Terry Pritchard began his performing career aging out with the Drum Corps International World Champion Star of Indiana. During his time at Star he studied brass under Donnie Van Doren and design under the late George Zingali and technique from Dr Len Kruzecki and Todd Ryan. Following in the footsteps of these great instructors, Terry developed a style that is innovative, creative and unmistakable.
Terry Pritchard’s style has led to several world championships beginning in 1994 with the Chimeras Winterguard, WGI Open Class Champions. Terry began teaching indoor drum lines with Music City Mystique. This led to successful early years and multiple World Championships for Mystique while developing a young WGI indoor marching percussion activity. During this time he developed a movement technique that allowed for greater clarity visually. His technique has since been used by many groups across the country.
Pritchard continued his performing career with the Tony and Emmy Award-winning show, Blast! As a cast member in the Broadway Cast he played Tuba, percussion and voice. Terry was also the visual instructor for both the North American touring cast and the Broadway Cast.
Terry has been an instructor or designer for some of the best ensembles in the country. The list includes Star of Indiana drum and bugle corps, Carolina Crown drum and bugle corps, Spirit of Atlanta drum and bugle corps, Dutch Boy drum and bugle corps, Music City Mystique, Avon High School, Mission Viejo High School, Diamonds Indoor Percussion, Chimeras Winter Guard, Brentwood High School, Middle Tennessee State University, University of New Mexico, Dobyns-Bennett High School, and Science Hill High School. |

Denise Thomas began her color guard career at a very young age. By her freshman year in high school, she was a member of the rifle line for the Southern Lancers Winter Guard from Jacksonville State University (AL) and became a member of the Jacksonville State University Marching Southerners rifle line in 1985 at the age of 15 and marched for 8 years. Her time with the Marching Southerners included 2 years in the drum line on cymbals. In 1989, Denise designed visual program for the drum line and cymbals visual show for the Percussive Arts Society competition. The Marching Southerners Drum Line proudly took second place at PAS in Nashville, TN with the Cymbal line walking away as PAS Champions. Jacksonville State University is not only home to the Marching Southerners, but also Center Stage Winter Guard (WGI Open Class Medalist and WGI World Class Finalist).
Having been introduced to drum corps in 1976, Denise was always fascinated with the activity. One of her fondest memories is not actually one of her own performances, but being on the sidelines to see Spirit of Atlanta perform just days after the death of Jim Ott while on tour. The power and pure emotion of that corps had her hooked.
In 1987, she auditioned for the Spirit of Atlanta color guard. Under the tutelage of color guard greats like Scott Chandler, Tam Easterwood, Sal Salas, and Carol Abohatab, Denise became a performing member of the 1987 DCI World Champion Color Guard from the Spirit of Atlanta and continued to march in the 1988 season. In 1990 Denise followed her mentor, Scott Chandler, to the Blue Devils of Concord, CA. Here, she marched in the Blue Devils Winter Guard and was a marching member of the DCI World Champion Blue Devils Color Guard. It was there that she learned from one of the greatest color guard technicians in the world, TJ Doucette. In 2006 she became a proud (but OLD) performing member of Insignia Winter Guard of Ft. Worth, TX.
At the young age of 14, Denise began teaching high school color guards throughout Alabama and Georgia. Her teaching career continued with the Colts from Dubuque, IA in 1992 and for several years with the Racine Scouts from Racine, WI. She was also fortunate enough to observe the talented staff of the Madison Scouts for several seasons while living in Madison, WI. After moving to Texas in 1996, Denise stepped away from the activity for a while. In 2005, she was fortunate enough to teach a great group of girls from Coppell High School during the winter guard season. She has proudly watched as past students have gone on to march in many world class and world champion drum corps, including: Blue Devils, Cadets, Glassmen, Colts, Phantom Regiment, Cavaliers, and of course Spirit. |
